Remote design consultations are being offered during the coronavirus pandemic and are also suitable if your property is outside the Northern Virginia or Washington DC metro area. For a remote consultation, prior to the video conference consultation, you would email: • photos and videos of your yard and views from your yard; • an image of your house location survey and / or any other plans you might have; and • the completed questionnaire or a list of your questions, site issues, concerns, landscape style preferences, etc. During the up to two hour Zoom consultation meeting, we would discuss together design solutions and answers to any questions. The video conference allows us to discuss different areas of your yard by looking together at the images, and I can bring up images of possible plants or hardscape materials. Following the video conference meeting, concept sketch(es) of the proposed design will be prepared. If a plat was provided, then the sketches will be based on the plat and will be approximately to scale. You will receive a follow up email that will include the following as applicable (see also below examples of resources that may be provided as part of the consultation): • a written description of the design concepts; • pdf scan(s) of the design sketch(es); • a list of recommended plants with images; • a list of any specific hardscape materials; and • a summary of lawn and landscape maintenance recommendations The fee for a remote design consultation is $120.

The design consultation includes: An up to two hour consultation meeting at your property The meeting will be customized to meet your preferences and may include discussion of: • landscape and hardscape design issues such as creating a welcoming entry, adding screening, creating use areas, providing for sustainability, adding seasonal color. • solutions to grading, drainage, and any other site issues; • design concepts for hardscape walkways and entertaining areas • discussion of existing tree condition and lawn and landscape maintenance. Following the meeting I will stay on-site briefly to photograh or measure for the proposed design sketches that will be sent to you in the follow up email. The sketches would be labelled as applicable with proposed plant species, proposed revisions to existing landscape, and proposed hardscape concepts. You will receive a follow up email with resources after the meeting. See below for examples of resources. The email may include as applicable: • the design sketch(es) • a written description of the design recommendations; • a summary of annual lawn and landscape maintenance; • a list of specific proposed plants with plant images; and • a list of any specific hardscape materials and products. Preparation of Detailed Landscape and Hardscape Plans includes a complete set of landscape and hardscape plan suitable for construction. This service typically includes a preliminary and a final version of the plans and three meetings; specifically as follows: PRE-DESIGN: Meeting at your property (approximately two hours) to discuss your goals and preferences; landscape issues and solutions; hardscape design; and solutions to any site issues such as grading, drainage, and screening. After this meeting I will send a proposal for design services for your approval. PRELIMINARY PLAN PHASE: • Preparation of AutoCAD plans including preliminary design for plan-view site and landscape improvements and plant schedule. • An accompanying 8.5 x 11" document with images of recommended plants • A meeting at your property to present and discuss the preliminary design • Subsequent revisions to the design to address ideas discussed at the meeting FINAL LANDSCAPE AND HARDSCAPE PLANS • Preparation of AutoCAD final plans, including proposed plan-view landscape and hardscape improvements, notes, plant schedule, and applicable construction details. The plans will be suitable for construction by your landscape contractor. You will receive two full-size sets of plans as well as PDFs.
