Add visual interest by including:

  • Colorful berries such as in Winterberry or evergreen holly trees and shrubs.

  • Interesting bark, such as the cinnamon colored peeling bark of the Natchez Crapemyrtle. Or the bright red twigs of a mass of Red Twig Dogwood shrubs.

  • Contrasting scale, color, and texture of different evergreen foliage, such as Cunningham White Rhododendron, American Holly or Nellie Stevens Holly, and English Weeping Yew.

  • Clearly defined edges of hardscape such as brick or stone walls, and brick or flagstone patio areas.
